在报考时我们经常提到“本科”、“专科”，“本科教育（undergraduate education）”，与专科教育（junior college education）、研究生教育（graduate education）构成高等教育内部的3个层次，为高等教育的主干部分。
而“一本”是“本科一批”的简称，指“在高考录取招生期间于本科层次第一批次招生的学校”，英语可以翻译为“the first batch of universities for students to apply”。
例句：
北京也将本科一批、二批合并，设置16所平行志愿高校，每个志愿高校设置6个志愿专业。
Beijing has also combined its first and second batches of universities for students to apply, but allows students to apply to up to 16 universities and 6 majors at each.
