6月19日凌晨，全球高等教育研究机构QS（Quacquarelli Symonds）发布了2020年世界大学排名。
与去年相比，最头部的排名变化不大。麻省理工学院第8年蝉联第一，斯坦福、哈佛紧随其后。
This years ranking of the worlds top 1,000 universities sees relatively little movement at the very top. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University and Harvard University are an unchanged top three, while the University of Oxford continues to be the best university in the UK.
在世界前1000名大学最头部的排名变化基本不大，麻省理工、斯坦福和哈佛大学仍然分列前三，牛津大学仍然是排名最高的英国大学。
今年进入前100名的中国大学达到12所，清华北大的排名更是创历史新高。清华排名超过了美国老牌名校耶鲁大学和哥伦比亚大学。
A total of 12 Chinese academic institutions have been named among the worlds top 100 universities in this years QS World University Rankings. Six of the universities are from the Chinese mainland.
今年共有12所中国高校进入QS世界大学排名百强，其中包括6所中国内地大学。
Tsinghua University is Chinas highest-ranked university in the list, rising from last years 17th to 16th. Peking University rose by eight places to 22nd globally. Both recorded their highest ranking since the list was established.
清华大学是排名最高的中国大学，排第16位，较去年上升一位。北京大学的排名也从第30位上升到22位，清北两所大学都取得了自身在榜单上的最高名次。
进入百强的其他中国大学按顺序还包括香港大学（25位）、香港科技大学（32位）、香港中文大学（46位）、香港城市大学（52位）、台湾大学（69位）和香港理工大学（91位）。中国内地高校排名：25所较去年排名上升清华、北大取得高名次的背后，是两所学校连续五年的排名上升。而更大的背景是整个中国大陆教育系统的持续进步。
Shenzhen University, Wuhan University of Technology and Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University are new arrivals from Chinese mainland to the rankings.
榜单中还有三个新上榜的中国内地大学：深圳大学、武汉理工大学和西交利物浦大学。
Out of the total 42 universities from Chinese mainland, 25 rose through the ranking compared to last year.

The rankings see the United States record its worst performance on record. Only 16% of its universities improve their rank.

同样作为老牌教育之国的英国在整体排名上也有下滑趋势。84所参与排名的英国大学中50所都有下降，只有12所上升，剑桥大学更是出现了五年来的第一次下跌，由去年的第六名变为今年的第七名。
The University of Cambridge hits its lowest-ever position (7th). The UK records its third-worst performance ever, but the University of Oxford rises to 4th.
影响该榜单学校排名的因素大约有五个：
